Casa Piedra
An ambitious restoration and architectural intervention preserving one of Nosara’s earliest homes while reimagining it for modern tropical living.
Residential Remodel • Nosara, Costa Rica • Under Construction • 410m²
Design Approach
Rather than demolish and begin again, the project embraces the challenge of adaptive reuse — preserving elements of the original structure while carefully reshaping the home for contemporary living. New architectural interventions seek to soften the building’s existing brutalist qualities, introducing warmer materiality, improved climatic performance, and a stronger connection to the surrounding landscape.
The redesign prioritizes openness, natural ventilation, and indoor-outdoor living, while respecting the memory and permanence of one of Nosara’s early residential structures. The result aims to balance preservation and reinvention, creating a home that feels rooted in both history and place.
In Progress
Restoration and structural works continue on site, with the existing building now substantially stabilized and new interventions beginning to take shape. The project remains focused on preserving the character of one of Nosara's earliest homes while adapting it for contemporary tropical living.
